Chemo Day

Chemo day today. It's my 4th weekly cycle of irinotecan which means after today I get 2 weeks off before my next treatment. I've been feeling good for a fews days per week these past few weeks even with weekly treatment so the prospect of having 2 weeks off makes me really excited.

I got out for a photo walk yesterday afternoon in the Weaselhead park. I got a chance to try out a teleconverter with one of my lenses and got a few good close up animal pictures. For a first effort out it was pretty fun and the lens and teleconverter are amazing. Here are a few of the pictures.

Telus Spark - Calgary Science Centre

Just before the return to school we used some gift passes (thanks Mike and Bridge!) and spent an afternoon at the Science Centre. While I don't find the Calgary centre as good as the Vancouver one, there is certainly much to see and the kids love it. There was even lots for Brad to do and see as well. It's a really different, outside the box, place to go which is much needed in the depth of winter here when we are all at our wits end. It was a fun afternoon and I foresee a return trip in our future before the winter is done.

Just an Update

January 4. I'm feeling much better these past few days. I'm taking a bit of dexamethasone, a steroid that is really helping with my pain. I have been energetic and happy and really able to function normally which is a tremendous relief. We even managed to make it out to Banff on New Year's eve to do a little skating and tobogganing at the Banff Springs hotel. We all had a fantastic time. It seems stepping out of the normal home life scene for a day really makes a difference in everyones mental health. Another bonus of the steroid is that it gives me lots of energy. I've managed to do lots of cleaning and packing up of Christmas stuff and general tidying which is always needed in out house. I hope the new year brings you all happiness and good health.
