Tobogganing - A Photo Blog

We went out to Kananaskis (Burstall Pass trail head) for a little snow play on Saturday with Nancy, Art and the kids. Luckily Art had his camera and took some great shots. If it hadn't been so windy it would have been a really pleasant day. Besides a few cold cheeks and fingers, I think fun was had by all.

Scissors and Glue

Nothing much to talk about this week. It's been blissfully uneventful. A little work, a little play and mostly good times has made for happy people here at our house. Happy birthdays in the past week or so go out to Bruce and Jamie. Gifts are slow in coming but they are on their way now so please exercise a little patience.

It's 9 degrees here in Calgary the same as in Sidney BC but for once there is more snow on the ground in Sidney. I'm not sure that will last for long but it's nice to rub it in to the folks who live out there on the left coast. Happy shovelling!

One event here that has occupied us this week is making collages. I brought some large sheets of paper home from work and the kids and I spent lots of time cutting up magazines and newspapers and gluing things on in random shapes with silly messages. It's fantastic how a pair of scissors and some glue can ignite young (on older) imaginations.

Redesign

I got bored of that old layout. I speak html about as well as I speak Farsi so making changes is a very painful process. It took me two hours to make these changes and I really didn't even do anything. Just uploaded a picture and changed some colours. Imagine if I had tried something complicated...

CT Scan Results...

GOOD NEWS!!!!!!!

Penny and I went to see Dr. Lupichuck today to get the results from my latest CT scan. This is probably the most nervous we've been before getting results ever (except perhaps at the very start of this journey!). It had been about 5 months since my last scan with no treatment in that time and only one cycle of chemo in the last ~9 months. The potential for lots of growth and spread was there but in the end it was not to be. The scan showed no new cancer (no spread) either in my lungs or in my liver and it showed that only some of the mets in my lung had grown. The largest one on previous scans (12mm) was unchanged but some of the smaller ones grew a little and some grew a lot. The largest growth was from 6mm to 14mm. In the words of the radiologist: "some of the nodules are unchanged and some have increased in size". Penny, Dr. Lupichuck and I all agreed that this was great news. It is obvious that this cancer is slow growing. Yahoo!

In other news, Carly pulled out her own tooth tonight. She just decided it was time (it was hanging on by a thread). To make things even better, I got it on video, but alas, it is too large to post here. I will post some pictures on flickr in it's stead. I wonder what the going rate for a tooth is miss tooth fairy?

Happy New Year!

This post is a little late in coming. It's been a busy 10 days going from Comox to Sidney to Calgary and then back to work/school. You can say all that stuff pretty fast in one short sentence but man did it take a lot of work to plan and execute it all. Our trip to the island was fun as usual. We drove out to save a little $ since airfares were ridiculous. The kids travelled well and we planned stays on the way out and back at hotels with pools so the kids always had something to look forward to after a long day of sitting in the car. We encountered some bad weather in the passes but not being pressed for time we were able to go slowly and modify our plans as needed.

The break was nice but now it's back to school/work/cancer fighting. I went for a scan today at the Foothills. It went really smoothly. They let me take my telebrix (the contrast you have to drink for 2 hours before the test) back to the office so I could go to a meeting. I showed up back at the hospital and they whisked me right in and right out in no time. I won't get the results until Monday but I feel pretty positive. Fingers crossed. Not much else to report. Lots of new pictures on flickr so feel free to have a look there. They tell the tale of our trip to Mexico better than words anyways.
